This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office.

Government Intern

We are seeking an intern to join our team. Holland & Knight's Government Group operates a fall, spring, and summer internship program geared towards undergraduate students. Our internship program is structured around the academic semester/summer schedule. Generally, interns work a minimum of 18 hours and a maximum of 30 hours. This is a paid position.The program will be in person at our Washington, D.C. office.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct substantive issue research.

  • Attend congressional and executive branch agency hearings.

  • Draft memorandums.

  • Prepare presentations for client meetings.

  • Provide general administrative support to our Washington, DC-based lobbying practice group.

  • Participate in meetings with the firm's senior personnel to discuss their practices, backgrounds, and experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong writing skills are an essential requirement.

  • An applied understanding of executive and legislative branch processes will also be valuable to the intern experience.

  • Experience or a previous internship in the government sector is also highly valued and preferred.

Education:

  • Eligible candidates are current students in good standing. Summer candidates must plan to be enrolled in class for the following fall semester.

The base salary range for this position is $18.40/hr. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience. In addition to the base compensation, Holland & Knight provides bonus opportunities and an exceptional benefits package.
