Familiarity with strength and conditioning equipment, exercise testing protocols, and data management software is typically required, and progressing toward or holding the NSCA CSCS certification is highly valued. During a Summer Internship as an NSCA CSCS candidate, you can expect to gain practical experience assisting with athlete assessments, designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs, and monitoring training sessions under the supervision of certified professionals. Interns often help with daily facility operations, equipment setup, and data collection, as well as observe and learn about injury prevention techniques. This role typically involves close collaboration with coaches, athletic trainers, and sports scientists, providing valuable insight into interdisciplinary teamwork and real-world application of exercise science principles.

What is a Summer Internship NSCA CSCS?

A Summer Internship NSCA CSCS is a temporary, hands-on learning position typically offered during the summer months for students or recent graduates interested in strength and conditioning. The internship is often associated with the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential, providing practical experience in coaching, training athletes, and applying exercise science principles. Interns may assist with program design, supervise workouts, and learn from certified professionals, which can help prepare them for the CSCS exam and a career in strength and conditioning.
