As a Martial Arts Teacher, you will teach and inspire campers, pre-school-8th grade (Junior Camp, Senior Camp, Specialty Camps), in the world of martial arts! The emphasis is on safety, skill building, and fun.

Requirements:

  • Martial Arts Background: Must possess a martial arts background & training in an established system, achieving a black belt or equivalent level.
  • Education: Completion of a minimum of two (2) years of college; bachelor's degree preferred - Degree in Physical Education or Kinesiology is preferred
  • Experience: We are looking for experience teaching and working with children.
    • Martial Arts teaching experience (1 – 3 years minimum required)
    • Previous experience working with children in a camp setting is preferred.
  • Hours: Typically, from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for extended hours.
  • Schedule Commitment: Any schedule changes must be pre-approved by the site director.
  • Required Training: Complete all required ESF and state-mandated training and onboarding.
  • Dress Code: Maintain the "ESF Look" (camp uniform) and embody the spirit of the camp.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach & Inspire: Implement ESF curriculum. Actively engage campers, offer support, and provide guidance to bring lesson plans to life.
    • Daily martial arts instruction to campers K-8th grades with various skill levels
    • Providing safe martial arts training based on progression, repetition, problem-solving, respect, friendship, and being part of a community.
  • Dive Into the Camp Day! Promote and lead daily activities and projects with enthusiasm, collaborating effectively with counselors and fellow instructors.
  • Safety & Positive Group Management: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers with an emphasis on positive behavior and effective group management. Promptly report any concerns to the Site Director.
    • Enforce all martial arts rules and regulations.
    • Ensure safety of campers and team members in and out of the martial arts areas
  • Be the Ultimate Role Model: Supervise campers, while fostering a positive and safe environment.
    • Demonstrate ESF Core Values & Code daily, from "Gratitude" to "Bring It" daily.
    • Model the ESF Virtues of Character (Gratitude, Respect, Trustworthiness, Effort, Kindness, Positivity, Resilience, Community) in camp daily.
    • Adhere to all company policies.
  • Communication: Maintain clear, concise, and engaging communication with campers, families, peers, and our leadership team.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Directly report to and take guidance from the Camp Director, with additional accountability to the Site Director.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Push/pull, lift, and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus. Work outside, upright, and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day
  • Respond to emergencies, including running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion.
