Job description


About This Role

Bridges School is a nationally accredited early childhood program located in Cos Cob, CT. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, team-oriented classroom teacher for our Reggio-inspired Mixed Age Program. The daily schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am-1:00pm and 8:00am-3:30pm on Wednesdays. Additional afternoon hours are possible. Our teachers work in collaborative teams of three.

  • familiar with the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education

What You'll Do
  • Implementing an inquiry-based curriculum, guided by the theories of social constructivism and based on developmentally appropriate practices
  • Documenting the learning process
  • Communicating with families regularly regarding child's classroom experience and progress across all developmental domains
  • Conducting parent-teacher conferences twice per year
  • Engaging thoughtfully and collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents
  • Reflecting on own teaching practice, working toward professional development goals

Requirements
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • One year of experience as a classroom teacher
  • Familiar with the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the Bank Street approach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with NAEYC's Developmentally Appropriate Practices and the CT ELDS and DOTS
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
