Boundless Life is redefining the way families live, work, and learn across the globe. Our international hubs bring together education, culture, nature, and community to create immersive live-abroad experiences for families.

Our Summer Camps are a joyful extension of our year-round education programs. They are intentionally designed, play-based experiences where children build belonging, confidence, and connection through exploration and shared adventure.

The Role: Summer Camp Counselor

Summer Camp Counselors are at the heart of the Boundless Camp experience.

Working alongside our year-round Educators & Hospitality Teams, you will help bring our Summer Camp Framework to life - guiding children through playful activities, outdoor exploration, cultural outings, and meaningful community traditions.

This is not a classroom teaching role. It is hands-on, relational, energetic work centered on youth development and community building. This is an entry-level, seasonal role with a monthly salary in alignment with local employment standards.

Key Responsibilities

Support Camper Experience & Group Leadership

  • Supervise and engage campers in age-aligned Crews (1.5-5 years, 6-12 yrs, or 13-15 years)
  • Responsible for the well being, care and joy of each child in our camp and your crew
  • Help guide children through each phase of the camp session (belonging stretch contribution reflection)
  • Foster emotional safety, inclusion, and positive peer dynamics
  • Support daily rhythms including Morning Ease, Morning Compass, Activity Blocks, Culture Quests, and Closing


Design & Facilitate Activities

  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, games, and creative projects
  • Host or co-host activities aligned with your strengths (art, sports, movement, robotics, music, language, outdoor skills, etc.)-- we call these "Choice Labs"
  • Contribute creative ideas while supporting shared camp traditions and required programming
  • Adapt plans based on weather, energy, and group needs


Support Culture Quests & Field Trips

  • Supervise campers on local outings and full-day field trips
  • Model curiosity and respect for local culture and environment
  • Maintain strong group management and safety practices off-site


Participate in Camp Traditions

  • Support Opening Day and Closing Rituals with families
  • Help facilitate all-camp events such as Boundless Olympics or Boundless Festival
  • Contribute to meaningful camper reflection and closure


Qualification

Required

  • Minimum age 18 by start of contract
  • Fluency in English (camp operates in English), fluency in Spanish is required for La Barra location as this is a "Camp in Spanish" destination and both English and Spanish language skills are required.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience working with children or youth
  • Strong sense of responsibility and reliability
  • Comfort working outdoors and in active environments
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification or willingness to complete required Boundless training prior to camp start


Preferred

  • University coursework or prior experience in education, child development, recreation, psychology, or related field
  • Prior camp counselor experience
  • Experience leading sports, arts, outdoor activities, or youth programs
  • Familiarity with one of our camp locations and/or local language ability
  • Experience traveling or living abroad


Location & Commitment

Boundless Camps operate in multiple international destinations. Applicants will rank preferred locations during the application process.

Counselors must:

  • Be legally able to travel to and work in their assigned country
  • Commit to the full camp session (typically 4-6 weeks; total onsite commitment 5-9 weeks including training and wrap-up depending on location)
  • Arrive in time for required pre-camp onboarding and training
  • Most sites require counselors to provide their own housing.


This role requires existing work authorization in the country where it is based. While we welcome applications from all qualified candidates, Boundless Life is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Work Schedule

Some required virtual training sessions will be conducted prior to the start of summer (late June). All counselors are expected to be on-site/available to begin by June 30 & July 1.

  • Typical workdays are Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Lunch is provided onsite during camp days
  • Weekends are off
  • Approximately 40/hours per week


Please note that occasional additional support may be required during the start or end of camp sessions or during special community events. Flexibility is important in a dynamic, international camp environment.

*Remote training will start on June 22, and reporting onsite according to the dates below

  • La Barra, Uruguay: June 30th- July 31st
  • Tuscany (Pistoia), Italy: June 30th-July 31st
  • Bali, Indonesia: June 30th- August 15th
  • Sintra, Portugal: June 30th- September 4th
  • Syros, Greece: June 30th- September 4th
  • Kotor, Montenegro: June 30th- September 4th
  • Andalusia (Estepona), Spain: June 30th- September 4th
  • Kamakura, Japan: June 30th- September 4th

*for university students or teachers returning to academic schedules before September 4th, please note the latest possible departure in your application for review. We may have some flexibility for end of August departures at some sites.
