Intern Robotics Software Engineer

Advanced Construction Robotics

Allison Park, PA • On-site

Internship

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

Intern Robotics Software Engineer

Advanced Robotics Coatings of Allison Park, PA is hiring an Intern Robotics Software Engineer. We are a construction robotics company focused on coatings and surface prep at height (up to 40 feet) for interior commercial facilities. Our system is designed for speed, precision and reliability. We have strong customer pull, product market fit and a functioning prototype. Our priority is to extend the capabilities of the existing system to prepare for future markets and scaling. You will be joining a small team and will have an opportunity to impact the shape of the product, team, and company future.

The summer paid internship project will be mobility focused. We currently have a weak and somewhat brittle (but working) mobility system. The mobility code needs to be hardened, and instrumented for future capabilities. We have well defined metrics for what success means and we have the necessary reliable infrastructure to do development. There are several interesting side projects that could be layered on top or around this if time permits. There is an opportunity to learn newer ideas and technology here and a framework to evaluate.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular brainstorming meetings where ideas, solutions and potentially dreamy solutions are explored.
  • Strive to achieve high velocity development which means a strict focus on testing harnesses and necessary data collection to quickly determine pass/fail

Requirements

  • Onsite only.
  • C++ and Python programming experience with standard dev skills such as GIT etc..
  • Experience with robotic sensors (of all types).
  • Experience with mobility systems, code, ideas, and concepts.
  • Desire to embrace AI native development and concepts.
  • Desire to move quickly, but diligently.
  • We plan, we execute. We will not hack and stick with something that works most of the time - We will build reliable, robust, and capable systems.
  • Desire to work in a product or customer led company.
  • We are exclusively focused on value to the customer and to the business, this means rather strict adherence to defining, measuring, and developing to metrics.
  • We still brainstorm and explore dreamy ideas - this is how we maintain creativity and our competitive advantage.
  • Desire/willingness to develop non-ROS solutions to maximize speed and reliability while lowering long term maintenance issues/costs.

Beneficial Skills/Experience

  • Docker and/or container build/deployment experience.

Required Education

  • In process Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical field required.

Safety

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work in an equipment testing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee and Team Members without proper safety precautions. This position may require you to be around heavy equipment and under constantly changing circumstances. Team Members will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies due to these safety risks.

Ready to Join Our Team?

Are you detail-oriented? Do you have excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills? Is working as part of a team something you enjoy? Are you self-motivated? Do you get excited about learning new technology and skills to enhance your job performance? If so, you might just be perfect for this programming position!
