Responsibilities

The Jackson Lehman Family YMCA is looking for an energetic, outgoing team player to fill the position of swim instructor to help create a safe and positive atmosphere in and around the pool and conduct swimming instruction in accordance with YUSA guidelines.

  • Serve: Build effective, authentic relationships with members, swim participants, and parents.
  • Care: Ensure a safe and positive environment for the swim lesson participants to succeed in program goals.
  • Lead: Encourage the involvement of all swim participants.

Requirements

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:

  • At least 16 years old.
  • Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • A current American Red Cross or YMCA Water Safety Instructor is preferred.
  • Certification from the YMCA or other accredited association is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Salary: Part-time $12.44-$14.50 hourly

Hours Available:

  • Tuesdays 5:00pm-8:00pm
  • Thursdays 5:00pm-8:00pm
  • Saturdays 9:00am- 12:00pm
