Guest Ambassador (Summer 2026)

Job Summary: The Ambassador serves as a frontline representative of the racetrack during live racing events, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for all guests. This role is responsible for greeting patrons, offering information and assistance, supporting crowd flow, and promoting a positive atmosphere that reflects the professionalism and excitement of live racing. This is a seasonal position for the Summer race meet at Colonial Downs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests upon arrival and throughout the facility in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Provide accurate information regarding racing schedules, seating areas, wagering locations, amenities, restrooms, concessions, and special events.
  • Assist guests with wayfinding and crowd flow, including directing foot traffic during peak attendance periods.
  • Serve as a visible point of contact for guest questions, concerns, or minor issues and escalate matters to management or security as appropriate.
  • Promote responsible guest behavior and assist with enforcing racetrack rules and policies in a professional manner.
  • Support accessibility needs and provide assistance to guests with disabilities or special accommodations.
  • Assist during special events, promotions, and high-profile race days as assigned.
  • Monitor guest areas for cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation, reporting concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor at all times while on duty.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Virginia Racing Commission license

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods (up to several hours per shift).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and live racing days.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • The work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, flashing lights, and smoke, depending on the assigned station and guest volume.
