Guest Services Canopy Walk and Emergent Tower Monitor

The Guest Services department seeks a friendly team member to facilitate guest safety and enjoyment of the Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower. These structures allow guests to experience immersive exploration of the forest and tree canopy. The staff monitors help guests learn about the structures and the property and ensure a safe experience for all. The structures are open from April through November with our summer exhibit on trains occurring Memorial through Labor Day. Training is provided. This position is supervised by the Guest Services Lead. Weekend, weekday, occasional evening, and occasional holiday work is required.

Position Details:
  • Part-time, seasonal, non-exempt position
  • 20-35 hours per week
  • Shifts are generally 9:30am-5:30pm
  • Season runs daily April 1 through November 1, 2026, and includes weekends-only in November. Full-season employment preferred, but flexible
  • Must have a flexible schedule to be able to work weekends, evenings and some holidays
  • Training is provided
  • This position is supervised by the Guest Services Representative Lead
  • $13.80/hour
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Holden Forests & Gardens' mission, values, vision, and core commitment to the visitor experience and community engagement
  • Actively welcome and receive guests, providing prompt and courteous service and orientation of the property, programs, and events that support the mission and success of Holden Forests & Gardens
  • Perform opening and closing duties, checking exhibit elements to ensure they are running, and communicating with supervisors to troubleshoot equipment problems. Training will be provided
  • Ensure proper admission policies are being followed by guests and staff
  • Ensure safety practices are being followed by guests and staff
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety and appearance of the tower, canopy, and summer exhibit
  • Manage customer concerns, communicate effectively verbally and via radio, provide prompt follow-up, and relay information as needed to supervisor
  • Contribute positively to the Guest Services team including staff, volunteers, and guests
  • Occasionally support special events and programs
  • Drive Holden Forests & Gardens golf carts on the property
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated passion for people and nature
  • High school degree or equivalent, required
  • Customer service experience, highly desired
  • Must enjoy working with the general public, families, and children
  • Effective and appropriate verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work within a team and be self-motivating when working independently
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends, some evenings and some holidays
  • Must have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform tasks in all weather conditions; temperatures may range from 35-103 F
  • Regularly climbing 202 stairs, and standing at platforms elevated 65 to 120 feet above ground
  • Stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
  • Effective vision and hearing
  • Hand and arm dexterity
  • Walk and work on wet, uneven, slippery terrain
  • Kneel, bend, stoop, grab, and reach
  • Regular lifting and carrying of up to 15 pounds
