Job description

Amazing Athletes is seeking a Summer Camp Youth Sports Coach for our multi-sport enrichment program. As the largest program of its kind in the country, Amazing Athletes is dedicated to providing children ages 1-12 with positive movement experiences to enhance their physical literacy and meet important milestones.

As a Summer Camp Youth Sports Coach, you will play a key role in leading and organizing a sport-specific (and sometimes multi-sport) program that provides a fun and safe learning environment for children. We go to program locations on a daily basis (primary north, west, and south sides of Indianapolis). These run five days a week, either 9AM-12PM, 1PM-4PM, or all day. Additional coaching opportunities are available outside of the regular camp hours.

Responsibilities
  • Teach children fundamental sports skills (inc. Soccer, Tennis, Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse and other)
  • Plan activities that positively influence physical development and coordination of children.
  • Create a fun, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Manage groups of children, providing guidance and support to ensure their safety and well-being (Group sizes can range from 8-30, but generally are 12-24).
  • Develop and lead age-appropriate drills and exercises. (Ages 5-12)
  • Interact and engage with children while providing instruction.
  • Set and enforce behavioral standards and rules.

Requirements

  • "Make it work" attitude, always willing to adapt to different environments.
  • Prior experience in coaching, teaching, or working with children.
  • Knowledge and passion for sports.
  • Experience managing groups of children. Many if not all of these classes are taught solo.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Availability must include Monday through Friday, from 8:30 to 4:30pm, starting May 25th through August 7th.

Benefits

Compensation for weekly 3 hour camps ranges from $300 - 350 depending on experience. Additional opportunties are compensated on a per class basis (based on a 30 minute class). Or in some cases, 2 camps per day.
