Job description

Part-Time French & English Teacher/Tutor Wanted — French Immersion is mandatory

Passionate about helping young minds ? Eager to help students succeed in English and French — including French immersion?

Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Guelph Woodlawn & Hanlon is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in this area.

Tutor-teachers at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (Mon- Fri: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm). For this role, you must be available during the summer.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

  • CEGEP or Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • OCT Teacher Certification is an asset
  • Fluent in written and spoken French and English
  • Ability to teach French immersion at the high school level (Grades 9–12)
  • Ability to teach math or science is a strong asset
  • Extracurricular activities including experience in sports, dance or gymnastics is an asset

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Grade 1 to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English and French written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Comfort working with French immersion students on subject-specific French coursework, oral assessments, and written compositions
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
