Full-Time Seasonal Job Opportunity
FLIPANY is seeking a Summer Camp Counselor I to support and lead engaging, safe, and enriching camp experiences for youth during our summer programming. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with children, enjoy leading activities, and are committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and active environment.
The Summer Camp Counselor I reports directly to the Camp Manager and is responsible for the primary supervision of all camp participants. Camp Counselors will be responsible for the daily administration of the Summer Camp Program, including ensuring the well-being and safety of all participants, administering games and activities, providing daily feedback to the Camp Manager, filling out paperwork, maintaining daily logs, and maintaining a fun and safe environment for the participants.
Required Availability: June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026 / Monday-Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Availability to work the full duration of the camp, including training and special events.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
  • Prior experience working with elementary and/or middle school children of diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Commitment to health and wellness.
  • Must have experience in some fields of arts, sports, or academic education.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and adapt to dynamic camp environments.
  • CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Passion for youth development and creating a positive camp experience.
  • Must pass a Level Ii background check.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and guide campers, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating positive behavior, leadership, and enthusiasm.
  • Maintain good communication with campers' parents.
  • Communicate regularly with camp leadership regarding camper progress, concerns, or program improvements.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down camp activities and events.
  • Act as a leader for assigned Junior Counselor and/or Counselors-in-Training providing them with instructions for daily activities.
  • Perform head-counts of participants throughout the day.
  • Follow all protocols found in the camp standard operating procedure.
  • Interact with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Assign duties for daily set-up and clean-up of the camp area.
  • Maintain a well-organized system that tracks each camper's attendance, medical conditions, as well as photo release restrictions.
  • Ensure participants are safe (properly hydrated, playing areas are free of hazards, etc.).
  • Keep track of supplies for camp and convey any camp needs to the Camp Manager.
  • Ensure that campers at all times are supervised and maintain a safe and enjoyable camp environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all camp rules, policies, and safety regulations.
  • Address and resolve conflicts, behavioral issues, or emergencies with professionalism and care.
  • Participate in training sessions and weekly team meetings as required.
  • Lead daily camp activities, including games, arts & crafts, outdoor adventures, and team-building exercises.
