Job Description
Upward Bound Program:Hope College TRiO Upward Bound is a federally funded program that prepares high school students to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. The six-week summer program serves 80 high school students, grades 9-12, and includes academic classes, social, cultural and recreational activities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Remain awake and alert the entire shift.
  • Ensure safety of TRIO Upward Bound Students and Coaching staff during the hours of 10:00 p.m.- 6:00 a.m. in dorm.
  • Interact with students, Coaching and Administrative staff as needed/requested.
  • Check all entrances to Hall and walk through each floor at designated times throughout the night.
  • Contact Upward Bound Administrators/Resident Director/Coaching staff in the event of a crisis/emergency situation.
  • Intervene/assist Upward Bound Administrative/Coaching staff in a crisis/emergency situation.
  • Cooperate with Campus Safety and Holland Public Safety departments in the event of a crisis/emergency situation.
  • Complete Evening Reports and submit to Assistant Director the following morning.

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves lifting over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities with students.
