Job Title:

  • Varsity Athletic Coach

Reports To:

  • Athletic Director

Supervises:

  • Athletes

About the Position:

  • Schaumburg Christian School (SCS) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader that can help maintain and grow our athletic programs. This position will help cultivate a school community that empowers students to become, through Christ, lifelong servants and leaders. This role will oversee, develop, and help schedule their team's athletic program.

Athletic Mission:

  • To raise the banner of Christ by using the platform of sports to communicate to others, strive to get better, and elevate the Conqueror Program through purpose and positivity!

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Works with school administration to implement the athletic policies and programs of the school
  • Supervise and enforce the various policies of the Student and Athletic Handbooks.
  • Creates and maintains a high-impact, competitive athletic environment.
  • Spiritually-short devotional during practices and prayer before/after practices and games.
  • Willingness to develop an individual's character through building strong relationships
  • Communicate often with families and athletes
  • In-Season:
  • Organize and plan preseason workouts
  • Maintaining a practice schedule that allows for student growth
  • Be present at all games and practices.
  • Games and practices are consistently scheduled on M,T,TH,F
  • Off-Season Training
  • Provide opportunities for athletes to work on individual and team growth
  • Potential summer league games
  • Facilitate summer camps for lower, elementary and middle school.
  • Facilitate year round growth through school leagues.
  • Team Development
  • Team building activities/Community service
  • Hold our coaches to same or higher standard of expectations than our players
  • Oversee JV team (we plan to have a JV coach/assistant V coach)
  • Lead the program from HS down to elementary teams
  • When possible, attend Middle School and Elementary games and practices.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach in the classroom (preferred).
  • Prior coaching experience (preferred).
  • Prior athletic experience.

Spiritual Qualifications:

  • Must be a confessing and practicing Christian in a church of like-faith
  • Must be exemplary Christian role model
  • Must uphold SCS's spiritual and academic mission and philosophy of education
  • Willing to speak or lead chapels

Skills & Attributes

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a visionary leader with a strong work ethic
  • Connect SCS athletic programs to the community at large.
  • Ability to schedule events
  • Ability to assist or create good marketing campaigns
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to schedule changes
  • Excellent judgment and discernment
  • Good record keeping skills
  • Ability to work with and lead others
