Job Summary:
Responsible for the entire kitchen and for preparation of all items served in the cafe. Is responsible for upholding State health code procedures and practices, ensuring kitchen is kept clean and orderly. Ensures the quality of every item that comes out of the cafe.
Summary Of Essential Job Functions:
โ€ข Keeps pars prepared according to the Daily Prep List and par set forth by the Cafรฉ Manager.
โ€ข Responsible for interacting with employees, members and guests in a manner aligned with the People, Places and Programs components of the Village Standards
โ€ข Attract and Retain members by consistently providing excellent customer service
โ€ข Responsible for paying close attention to "First-in-first-out" product rotation.
โ€ข Performs inventory monthly, and as needed.
โ€ข Maintains stockroom and dry storage.
โ€ข Performs regular, timely, and accurate food orders paying close attention to correct pars and food costing.
โ€ข Ensures that all food is prepared with efficiency and quality and according to Cafรฉ standards.
โ€ข Keeps temperature log on all refrigeration equipment.
โ€ข Keeps the kitchen clean and free of clutter at all times. This includes the floors, storage areas, preparation areas, and reach-ins, walk-ins, freezers and dish area.
โ€ข Cleans and monitors all equipment to ensure proper operation.
โ€ข Cleans all dishes and small wares that are used during the day.
โ€ข Performs daily and weekly side work according to schedule.
โ€ข Maintains an open line of communication to the manager to ensure the kitchen is running smoothly, and with the front staff to ensure that the guests are being served accurately and in a timely manner.
โ€ข Provides guests with the utmost in efficiency and friendliness
โ€ข Ensure the guest is the highest priority in the cafรฉ.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
โ€ข Current food handler's card issued by Maricopa County and abides by all health department regulations.
โ€ข Food preparation/cooking experience a plus
โ€ข CPR certification within 30 days of hire through Company training
โ€ข Knowledge of all State restaurant health codes
โ€ข Must be reliable and punctual

Physical Activity
This position requires standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling and stooping. Standing for long periods of time. Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Involved in activities where one must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
Physical Requirement
Light to Medium work involving standing most of the time. Walking and bending are required frequently. Frequently exerting 10-20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Occasionally exerting up to 30 pounds of force to move objects.
Visual Requirement
This position requires close visual acuity to determine the cleanliness, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities cleanliness and accuracy of work.
Working Conditions
This position may be subject to typical kitchen hazards. Including a variety of kitchen appliances and tools. Physical conditions include kitchen appliances, kitchen tools and equipment, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, vibrations, wet surfaces and floors. This position has frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions such as high heat, fumes, odors and chemicals. This position is frequently performed in close quarters and kitchen areas.
