Join the YMCA team this summer as an Outdoor Pool Desk Attendant at Leola Community Pool! Be the friendly first point of contact for members and guests while helping create a welcoming and enjoyable pool experience.

We're looking for customer-focused individuals who enjoy working with people and supporting daily pool operations.

Schedule

  • Seasonal summer position
  • Hours available between 11:30 AMโ€“7:00 PM, daily

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Desk Attendant maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all and responds to member and guest needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Inform customers of all aspects of the YMCA via phone or in person or be instrumental in ensuring customer gets information from correct person
  2. Resolve problems and concerns for members and staff in a positive and professional manner
  3. Ask every customer for a membership card or State ID
  4. Accept and accurately enter receipt information in computer
  5. Correctly register program participants using computer system
  6. Prepare and be responsible for daily cash shift closing and follow shift change procedures
  7. Open-Close desk area and the building depending on shift
  8. Follow guidelines for guest procedures
  9. Maintain cleanliness of desk area at all times
  10. Must be knowledgeable in emergency procedures in case of fire or injury
  11. Assist in general cleaning tasks as assigned
  12. Help with other tasks as assigned for the good of the YMCA

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must have strong communication skills in person and over the phone

  • Ability to work calmly under all conditions
  • Use independent initiative and thinking
  • Work well in a team setting

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • The employee may have to complete a job where repetitive motions are required.
  • Employee must be able to communicate effectively by speaking and listening.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
