Position Summary

The Food Service Staff is needed for our cafeterias located in each of our lodges. This position is great for people who like to stay actively engaged, as there is always something to do to contribute to the mountain's success. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cashiering, bussing the cafe, expediting accurate orders, maintaining a clean environment in and around guest areas, and contributing to the overall guest satisfaction. This position heavily emphasizes guest interaction; therefore, the candidate should embody Mt. Bachelor's values positively and engagingly. A friendly, outgoing, winning attitude will make you a success in this work environment that can vary from fast-paced to mellow, sometimes within the same day!

Major Responsibilities/ Daily Essential Functions

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every guest, answering commonly asked questions, and moving the guest through the service process promptly.

  • Be familiar with all products, up-sell items, and give recommendations according to current promotions.

  • Accurately prepare all orders according to the ticket.

  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned by Leads, Supervisors, and/or Managers

  • Accurately ring in all items and adhere to department standards and accounting practices.

  • Rotate and keep products stocked throughout the day.

  • Clean and sanitize service stations and keep them in an orderly manner throughout the shift.

  • Advise management when certain products are running low and need to be reordered.

  • Have working knowledge of computers and the POS system.

  • Reset tables according to the specifications of the restaurant.

  • Remove plates and silverware when guests have finished.

  • Sort dishes and prep for the dishwasher.

  • Refill water stations and help keep guest areas properly stocked.

  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.

  • Complete any reasonable task assigned by Leads, Supervisors, and/or Managers

  • Observe mountain-wide policies found in the Employee Handbook.

  • Accountable for accurate time keeping. Responsible for clocking in and out with the employee pass.

*Note: Not all responsibilities will be applicable depending on the lodge you are working in.

Secondary Function

  • Assist with dishwashing duties when needed.

  • Snow removal duties.

  • May be asked to assist with basic food prep & delivery.

Job Scope

Position does not have any supervisory or decision-making responsibilities. Provide problem-solving assistance to less experienced staff.

Interpersonal Contacts

The position will have constant guest and employee interaction.

Specific Job Skills/Certifications

  • License/Certifications: Oregon Food Handler's Card and OLCC permit

  • Technical: POS experience preferred. Basic computer skills required.

  • Physical Capabilities: Carry food trays with multiple orders and drinks. Constant walking, lifting, and carrying.

  • Additional: Must have a positive attitude and a proactive approach to anticipating needs and getting things done. Flexible with hours and days of work. Able to work any hours of the day, any days of the week. Must have good communication skills, people skills, memory, and multi-tasking skills.

Education/Related Experience

  • Minimum education required: High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum time in related position: 1+ years of serving experience in a high-volume outlet (preferred).

    • In addition to the specific conditions below, every position at Mt. Bachelor requires the ability to shovel snow, lift up to 10 pounds, and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.

  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to frequently bend, reach, climb, push, pull, lift over 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, the position will require frequent visual concentration, rapid reactions to changes, and the utilization of hand/eye coordination.

Current Hiring Rate: $16.00/hr

Minimum Age Requirement: 15+
