THE CANDIDATE
We are pleased to offer these summer school opportunities to our bargaining unit members for the 2026 Summer Session.
This summer, we are offering a summer learning opportunity for our students currently enrolled in grades TK through 11, and a Special
Education Extended School Year (ESY) session for students whose IEPs mandate an offer of ESY. Within this brochure are the descriptions of those programs and the classification assignments we are seeking to fill.

Assignment letters will be emailed the week of May 25, 2026.
VESPA Contract Guidelines for Summer Session

Assignment Questions
Q: How do you decide who gets a Summer Session assignment?
A: We assign all positions according to the guidelines outlined in Article 34 in the VESPA contract. Please refer to section 34.8 in your contract to review the process. Lost your copy of the contract? You may view it online by visiting the Classified Human Resources page and clicking on VUSD-VESPA Bargaining Unit Agreement under the "Resources" section.
Q: What if I am currently out on medical leave, may I still apply for a Summer Session opportunity?
A: Yes, you can apply for a summer session opportunity. However you would need to provide a medical note by May 15, 2026 clearing you to return to work.
Q: When will I be notified if I have been assigned to a Summer Session position?
A: Notices will be sent the week of May 25, 2026. If you are assigned a position, your notification will include the details for your specific assignment, such as start and end times, location and any mandatory meetings.
