About Code Ninjas Arlington

Code Ninjas Arlington is part of the nation’s fastest-growing kids’ coding franchise, serving families across Arlington and nearby Northern Virginia communities. We teach kids ages 5–14 how to code in a fun, safe, and non-intimidating environment by building video games and creative projects they love.

Our core promise is simple and powerful:
Kids have fun. Parents see results.

As students progress through our belt system (white to black belt), they gain confidence and real-world skills in coding, logic, math, collaboration, and problem-solving.

About the Role

Senseis are the heart of our dojo. As a Sensei at Code Ninjas Arlington, you will coach, mentor, and inspire young Ninjas while creating an engaging and structured learning environment. You do not need to be a professional software engineer—what matters most is your ability to work with kids, learn our curriculum, and bring positive energy every day.

This is an ideal role for:

  • College students (CS, Engineering, Education, STEM, or related fields)
  • Aspiring educators or youth mentors
  • Individuals who enjoy technology, games, and working with children

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and deliver the Code Ninjas curriculum through provided training
  • Coach students individually and in small groups based on skill level
  • Create a safe, positive, and high-energy learning environment
  • Encourage problem-solving, persistence, and teamwork
  • Communicate student progress and feedback to parents, especially during tours
  • Support opening and closing procedures as scheduled
  • Maintain dojo cleanliness and organization to corporate standards
  • Collaborate with fellow Senseis and report regularly to Center Leadership
  • Assist with special events, birthday parties, camps, and community outreach as needed

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Experience working with children ages 5–14 (tutoring, mentoring, coaching, teaching, childcare, camps, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Willingness to learn new technology and teaching methods
  • Must pass a background check

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience with coding, STEM, robotics, or game design
  • Familiarity with Scratch, JavaScript, Python, Lua, or similar languages
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or leading small groups
  • Customer service or parent-facing experience

Schedule & Availability

  • After-school hours: Typically weekday afternoons and early evenings
  • Weekend shifts: Saturday daytime availability preferred
  • Seasonal opportunities: Expanded hours during summer camps, school breaks, and special programs
  • Flexible scheduling ideal for students or part-time professionals

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay (based on experience and availability)
  • Paid training provided
  • Opportunities for advancement (Senior Sensei, Camp Lead, Assistant Manager)
  • Fun, mission-driven work environment
  • Valuable experience in STEM education and youth development

Why Join Code Ninjas Arlington?

  • Make a real impact in kids’ lives
  • Work in a supportive, energetic, and mission-driven environment
  • Build teaching, leadership, and technical skills
  • Be part of a growing Arlington-based community business

Benefits:

  • Employee discount
  • Flexible schedule
  • Professional development assistance
  • Referral program

Work Location: In person
