The Company

As a member of Munich Re's US operations, we offer the financial strength and stability that comes with being part of the world's preeminent insurance and reinsurance brand. Our risk experts work together to assemble the right mix of products and services to help our clients stay competitive - from traditional reinsurance coverages, to niche and specialty reinsurance and insurance products.

The Opportunity

Munich Re's Summer Leadership Development Program (SLDP) is an immersive 12-week internship designed to expose students to our industry-leading practices. Applicants should be rising seniors interested in pursuing fulltime careers in the insurance industry. SLDP interns are entrusted to work on real-time business activities and projects, and are treated as valued members of the Munich Re team. The internship provides foundational experiences in key insurance and/or reinsurance units (e.g. underwriting, risk management, claims, data, marketing, etc.) to build technical skills through engaging and meaningful project work. Interns also strengthen their professional and personal skills via meetings with senior leaders, networking with colleagues, involvement in volunteer opportunities, and conversations with their paired mentors. Hear from one of our past SLDP interns at the following link: https://youtu.be/Y_FhVHz_4mA

Qualifications:

The Summer Leadership Development Program internship is only open to students who are in their junior year of an undergraduate program or in their first year of a graduate degree program and have:

* GPA 3.25 and above

* Superior communication skills (oral and written)

* High emotional intelligence

* Strong analytical capabilities

* Ability to think strategically and function tactically

* Tech savviness

* Innate curiosity and self-motivation

* Demonstrated leadership abilities in college or community activities

* Flexible work style with ability and willingness to work independently, with in-person colleagues, and as part of remote teams

All applicants, including applicants holding a valid CPT/OPT visa, who will require employer sponsorship of a visa now or in the future will not be considered for this position.

SLDP interns will work from 1 of 5 possible locations: Princeton, NJ; New York City, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Chicago, IL or Atlanta, GA. While we consider interns' location preferences, applicants should be open to all five cities as placement will ultimately depend on business need. The base range for this internship will be $25- $27 per hour.
