Purpose of Role:
The Finance Intern will provide critical operational support to the Hudbay U.S. Business Unit during a period of significant activity across our domestic portfolio. Based in our Tucson office, this role is designed for a motivated student looking to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial finance. You won't just be observing; you will be an active contributor to the data integrity and organizational framework that supports a multi-site mining business.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Data Integrity & Clean-up: Assist the finance team in auditing and refining financial datasets to ensure accuracy in reporting and forecasting across U.S. operations.

  • Process Improvement: As a "self-starter," identify opportunities to automate or simplify current administrative tasks and present fresh ideas to the leadership team.
  • Ad Hoc Project Support: Provide analytical support for various departments, including accounts payable, procurement, or cost control as needed.
  • Learning & Integration: Actively participate in team meetings to gain a foundational understanding of the mining life cycle and how finance drives large-scale industrial operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
  • Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Location: Must be a local resident of the Greater Tucson area for the duration of the summer internship (the role is based in the Tucson office).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a solid foundational grasp of Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, and data entry).
  • Mindset: A strong "self-starter" mentality with the ability to work independently on routine tasks while maintaining high attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other related duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Why Hudbay?
  • At Hudbay, our values of Dignity & Respect, Caring, Openness, and Trustworthiness are embedded into our culture by the way we work and how we interact with one another.
