Federal experience is not required. Experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or through Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for this position, you must meet the qualification requirements outlined below:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS All GRADES: A bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Evaluation of Education:
Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS All GRADES: A bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-14: In addition to meeting basic requirements, to be eligible for this position at this grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Demonstrated professional competence in applying the theoretical foundations of computer science, including the design, development and application of computer systems and architectures, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, deep learning, data ingestion, normalization, and ontologies.
  • Applying software exploitation techniques, cryptanalysis, or blockchain technology.
  • Interpreting and applying relevant mathematical and statistical sciences.
  • Working complex assignments in research, acquisition, design, development and maintenance of information systems for identifying and tracing movements in cryptocurrency, deanonymization of online actors, identifying suspicious activity, or analyzing and organizing large volumes of unstructured data.
  • Leading projects to design, acquire, and implement major prototype and developmental systems.
  • Making extensive modifications and upgrades to existing systems, taking into account changing requirements and interfaces, advances in technology, and evolving standards.

AND
You must also meet the following requirements:

  • MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age for federal employment is 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and have:
    • Graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or
    • Completed a formal vocational training program; or
    • Received a statement from school authorities agreeing with your preference for employment rather than continuing your education.
