Job description

Spend your summer doing work that can shape your career and improve healthcare. The HSLDP Summer Associate Internship is a 10-week experience for graduate students who are passionate about healthcare, energized by complex business challenges, and ready to lead with curiosity, confidence, and compassion.

Summer Associates own meaningful work tied to enterprise priorities, engage with senior leaders, and experience the culture, scale, and impact of The Cigna Group.

Responsibilities

Own a high-impact project in areas such as healthcare strategy, product innovation, operations, customer experience, digital health, pharmacy and care delivery, provider/network strategy, or enterprise transformation.

Apply structured thinking to assess business opportunities, analyze data, identify insights, and recommend practical solutions.

Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to move work forward and communicate progress, risks, and recommendations.

Use AI-enabled tools, analytics, and digital solutions to improve project outcomes, productivity, insight generation, or decision quality.

Build leadership presence through executive exposure, peer collaboration, networking, mentoring, and final presentations.

Required Qualifications

Currently pursuing an MBA, MPH, or MHA, with 3 years of professional experience prior to graduate school or during career progression.

Demonstrated leadership in professional, academic, military, entrepreneurial, community, or project-based settings.

Strong management, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Demonstrated interest in healthcare, health services, customer experience, or improving health outcomes.

Experience using AI tools, analytics, or technology-enabled solutions to improve productivity, insights, or outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in strategy, operations, finance, product, analytics, marketing, consulting, healthcare, or general management.

Experience leading teams, workstreams, student organizations, consulting projects, operational improvements, or customer-focused initiatives.

Ability to connect business strategy with healthcare impact and communicate recommendations clearly to senior audiences.

Growth mindset, intellectual curiosity, and desire to build a career as an ambitious and compassionate healthcare leader.

Additional Information

Location: Interns are expected to work a hybrid schedule, spending three days per week in our Bloomfield, CT office and two days working remotely.

Compensation: Interns are paid $50-$52 per hour, based on experience. Housing is provided throughout the summer internship.

Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis and must not require employment sponsorship now or in the future.

LDP Intern Schedule: This is a full-time summer internship (40 hours per week) running from May 24 through July 30th, 2027.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
