Job description

About Konare Law

Konare Law is a removal defense firm dedicated to providing high-quality immigration representation to individuals and families facing the most serious consequences in the U.S. immigration system. We are a firm that moves fast, works hard, and takes our mission seriously - and we build our team accordingly.

About the Program

The Konare Law Summer Associate Program is a 10-week immersive experience for 1L and 2L law students who want real, substantive exposure to immigration law - not busywork. Summer Associates are integrated into the firm's daily operations from day one, working alongside attorneys on active cases, adhering to the same processes and standards expected of all legal staff.

This is not an observational program. You will do real work.

Responsibilities

  • Draft memoranda, briefs, parole documentation requests, and waivers under attorney supervision
  • Conduct legal research in immigration law using Westlaw and other resources
  • Assist with case preparation across removal defense, family-based, and employment-based immigration matters
  • Review and summarize relevant immigration developments, policy changes, and case law
  • Observe and participate in court proceedings, client consultations, and case strategy meetings
  • Support attorneys in all phases of litigation and administrative proceedings before USCIS and immigration courts

What You'll Learn

  • Immigration terminology and the full spectrum of removal defense practice
  • Administrative procedures of USCIS and the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR)
  • How a high-volume, mission-driven immigration firm operates day to day
  • How to work within a structured legal team with real accountability

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a 1L or 2L at an ABA-accredited law school
  • Strong academic record
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Genuine interest in immigration law and access to justice

A Note on Fit

We're looking for associates who want to be part of something - not just observe it. If you're looking to build your immigration law foundation in a firm where the work matters and the learning is real, we want to hear from you.

If you are interested in applying to Konare Law's Summer Associate Program,
