Organization Overview: 
82nd Street Academics provides high-quality educational and enrichment programs that empower students to excel academically and personally. Our mission is to complement public education so that all NYC students, regardless of home language or background, have access to quality, public, higher education. 

Position Summary: 
82nd Street Academics seeks a full-time Program Director to lead after-school and summer programs with hundreds of students. The Director oversees daily operations, provides program supervision, and designs high-quality enrichment opportunities for students. We are looking for individuals who bring experience leading DOH, DOE, and DYCD programs in NYC, and we are looking for individuals who love bringing creative ideas into action with our young people. We design fun, engaging, and unique experiences to our students.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead program's administrative tasks, event planning, and scheduling. 

  • Facilitate or support enrichment and STEM activities as needed. 

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging environment for students. 

  • Lead daily operations and supervision of after-school activities. 

  • Oversee staff and student transitions to ensure a safe, structured, and engaging environment. 

  • Support with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, scheduling, and supply management. 

  • Communicate effectively with parents, school personnel, and program partners. 

  • Ensure compliance with different government agencies and funders, like DYCD and DOH.. 

  • Support program planning, including enrichment, academic, and recreational activities. 

  • Lead or assist in facilitating group activities (STEM, arts, sports, literacy, etc.). 

  • Help organize and participate in special events, family engagement nights, and celebrations. 

  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback. 

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation. 

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment for students and staff. 

Qualifications

  • At least 2+ years experience working with young people in after-school or summer programs (required).

  • Knowledge of DYCD and DOH regulations (required). 

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).

  • Experience in program leadership (preferred).

  • Bilingual with English/Spanish (strongly preferred). 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and management skills. 

  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
