Job description

The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company's products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This is a Student Co-op position located in Saginaw, MI. This position will support Core Control, Automation, and Vision Systems Engineering Team activities.

  • Work with Controls and Automation team to support the development of Robotic and Driverless Vehicle (AMR) applications as needed.
  • Assist Controls team with developing standard machine design EPLAN drawings and their equivalent AutoCAD drawing packages.
  • Assist Controls team with developing EPLAN drawing symbol and part databases.
  • Work with Controls team members to update PLC and HMI library programs and associated example programs.
  • Work with Automation and Vision team to support the development of Vision System applications as needed.
  • Assist with updating Controls, Automation, and Vision team specifications and forms, such as: SD Specifications, Checklists, Machine Risk Assessment form, etc.
  • Collaborate with Nexteer Plant and Global Engineering teams as required.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must attend a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw.
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters.
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale.
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must have an interest in Machine Controls and Automation Systems.
  • Candidate must have growing knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering principles.
  • Candidate must have strong mathematical and analytic ability.
  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Products (Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, SQL).
  • Candidate must have excellent Communication, Documentation Skills and attention to detail.
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship.
