Why Fleet Work
If you’ve been grinding it out in a collision shop, this is different. This is NOT a collision/car shop. No insurance estimates, no chasing flat-rate hours, no dealing with customers. You get steady, year-round work on our own fleet — vans and cutaway mini buses — paid by the hour, home every night, and off every weekend.
We’re a Syracuse-based fleet operation looking for an experienced Auto Body Repair Technician to repair and refurbish our vehicles. We want someone energetic and reliable with a diverse skill set who takes pride in the job. Pay is based on experience, and hard work is recognized here. Must be a team player.
Experience with vans, buses, box trucks, or RVs is a big plus. The majority of the work is on full-size vans and cutaway mini buses.
What You’ll Do
• Repair aluminum and fiberglass bodies on vans, mini buses, and other fleet vehicles and equipment
• Repair vehicle bodies: replace front-end and body components, doors, and frame under-body components; hammer out dents and buckles; file, grind, and sand surfaces
• Remove damaged parts using wrenches and a cutting torch, and fabricate replacement parts using hand and power tools
• Bolt or weld replacement parts into position
• Fill holes, dents, and seams; remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills; weld replacement parts in place
• Paint surfaces after body repairs, and order replacement parts, panels, and supplies
• Prep under-bodies and apply undercoating and rust-prevention solutions
• Operate all tools and equipment safely, follow organizational safety procedures and DOT regulations, and keep a neat work area
• Other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
• 2+ years of experience in body work (5 years of auto body repair and auto painting preferred)
• Valid driver’s license — CDL preferred
• ASE or I-CAR certification a plus
• Strong measuring and math skills
• Ability to lift 70 lbs
• Ability to use ladders and scaffolding, and to crawl, kneel, and stretch when working on larger vehicles (cutaway mini buses up to 25 ft long and 10 ft tall)
• Comfortable using a PC to document repairs and manage time
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Benefits
• 401(k) with matching
• Health, dental, and vision insurance
• Health savings account (HSA)
• Paid time off
• Paid training and professional development assistance
