Job description

Job Opportunity

The individual will join Reservoir Simulation & Optimization (RSO)-Workflow team under Chevron Subsurface Platform, developing tools and applications focusing on the subsurface component of the end-to-end workflow from reservoir modeling to economics. The main product RSO workflow team works on is called FDPlan, a native DELFI application (Schlumberger product with Chevron customization) for integrating various components required for agile field development planning solution, delivering faster, more accurate, and more effective field development plan. FDPlan is identified integration platform to enable full value chain asset development and portfolio optimization. Work closely with the respective functional disciplines such as Interpretation & Modeling and Reservoir Simulation & Optimization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Modify existing databases and database management systems
  • Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations
  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ year of technical depth and breadth across the range of large-scale cloud and data architectures technologies.
  • Practical, hands-on experience in all phases of Software Development Lifecycle (plan, design, develop, test, release, maintain and support, decommission)
  • BS minimum, MS preferred in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics, engineering or mathematics)
  • Strong coding skills in Python based services, Azure ReST services (JSON data schemas), Working knowledge of GIT and ADO. Optionally, Microsoft Blazar/C# .NET framework
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time
  • Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
  • Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.

Education/Experience:

  • BS minimum, MS preferred in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics, engineering or mathematics)
  • 5-7 years experience required.
