JOB TITLE: Substitute Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy
REPORTS TO: Principal and Assistant Principal
STATUS: Temporary; Hourly non-exempt
HOURS: As needed, on-call
LOCATION: Calvary Christian Academy, all campuses

Purpose Statement:
The substitute will work in the capacity for which they are hired. As a teacher substitute, the individual will teach, train, lead, guide, and follow the lesson plans to properly educate the grade level(s) in their care. These also could be clerical tasks, supervision tasks, and class coverage tasks as needed. As a substitute, the individual must take ownership of the assigned role so that students are always well supervised and taught per the provided plans.
Scope:
The position is multifaceted in that the individual takes on the tasks of another staff member who is absent. As a substitute, this person is in constant contact with children, school staff, parents, and church staff.
Specific Responsibilities:
Model Christ in word and deed while:
  • Teaching Students with provided lesson plans
  • Following CCA Staff regulations, guidelines, procedures
  • Providing a safe environment for kids
  • Assisting teachers with required tasks, duties, and class coverage
Qualifications/Skills/Gifts:
  • A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ
  • A strong commitment to the philosophies and mission of Calvary Chapel
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to lead and communicate with children
  • Ability to multi-task and become easily oriented
  • The ability to be “with it” and monitor groups of children with a positive disciplinary approach
  • Ability to be flexible and open to coming at the last minute and filling the gap where needs are evident
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication skills in English.
