This role plays a critical part in supporting the planning and successful execution of substation construction and upgrade projects. The Substation Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners to help secure and deliver projects that power communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings to develop accurate substation project cost proposals.

  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitiveness and timely submissions.

  • Partner with project management and operations teams to align estimates with project goals and execution strategies.

  • Document estimate assumptions, methodologies, and cost structures in detail.

  • Identify potential project risks and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Participate in bid reviews and present estimate findings to leadership.

  • Continuously refine estimating practices, tools, and databases to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Stay current with industry trends, construction methods, and pricing data relevant to substation projects.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proven experience estimating substation projects within the utility or construction sectors.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.

Experience/Education
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in estimating substation or related utility projects.

  • Background in construction estimating strongly preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, per company policy.
