Job description

Substation Crew Lead โ€“ Underground Construction

North Florida | $32โ€“42/hr + Work Truck + Per Diem + Paid Hotel + Full Benefits

We are seeking an experienced Substation Crew Lead / Foreman to support greenfield substation construction projects throughout North Florida, with occasional travel to projects across other areas of Florida as work is awarded.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading crews in the field and has hands-on experience with below-grade substation construction activities, including foundations, site preparation, grounding systems, conduit installation, grading, and civil work associated with new substation builds.

Preference will be given to candidates residing in North Florida or South Georgia, though qualified candidates throughout Florida are encouraged to apply.

Schedule:
  • 4x10 schedule (Mondayโ€“Thursday)
  • Occasional 5th day available (10-hour Friday overtime)
  • Opportunity for additional overtime
Compensation & Benefits:

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee field crews performing below-grade substation construction work
  • Coordinate daily activities and maintain production schedules
  • Support greenfield substation construction projects from early site development through foundation completion
  • Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Coordinate with project management and utility representatives
  • Lead and participate in:
    • Site grading and preparation
    • Foundation excavation activities
    • Drilled pier operations
    • Concrete placement and finishing
    • Ground grid installation
    • Underground conduit installation
    • Foundation and below-grade construction activities
  • Maintain quality, productivity, and safety expectations
  • Ensure crews follow company and client safety requirements
  • Perform occasional travel throughout Florida as project needs dictate
Qualifications:
  • 1โ€“4+ years of experience leading substation construction crews
  • Experience supporting greenfield substation projects
  • Hands-on experience with below-grade substation construction activities
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Grading
    • Foundations
    • Concrete finishing
    • Drilled piers
    • Underground conduit systems
    • Ground grid installation
  • Ability to read construction drawings and layouts
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Bonus experience:

  • Above-grade substation construction experience
  • Utility construction experience
  • Experience leading larger crews or multiple crews
