Description:
Position Purpose
Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a compassionate and experienced Addiction Psychiatrist to provide trauma-informed outpatient psychiatric care and medication management for underserved and vulnerable populations. This physician will play a key role in delivering integrated behavioral health services, supporting patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and advancing Mercy Care's mission of providing exceptional care to all, regardless of income or circumstance.
What You Will Do
  • Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for adult patients.
  • Deliver trauma-informed care to individuals experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Manage Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone therapies.
  • Collaborate closely with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, and interdisciplinary care teams in an integrated care setting.
  • Provide consultation, mentorship, and clinical guidance to psychiatric and primary care nurse practitioners.
  • Support outpatient behavioral health and substance use treatment programs through clinical leadership and administrative oversight as needed.
  • Participate in community outreach activities, health fairs, and special events throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Unrestricted Georgia medical license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
  • Minimum one year of experience serving disadvantaged or special-needs populations.
  • Certification in Addiction Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, or demonstrated expertise with MAT strongly preferred.
  • Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in a multidisciplinary setting.
