To thrive in a Subsea role, you need a strong background in marine engineering, subsea operations, and offshore safety procedures, often supported by an engineering degree and relevant offshore certifications. Expertise in remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), subsea control systems, and industry standards such as IMCA or OPITO certifications is highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork are key soft skills in this field. These competencies are crucial for maintaining operational safety and efficiency in challenging underwater environments.
A subsea job involves working with underwater equipment, structures, and technology, primarily in the oil and gas, renewable energy, and marine industries. Professionals in this field design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot subsea systems such as pipelines, wellheads, and production facilities. Roles vary from engineers and technicians to ROV (remotely operated vehicle) operators and divers. These jobs often require specialized training, experience in offshore environments, and knowledge of subsea engineering principles.
Subsea professionals often work in harsh and unpredictable marine environments, dealing with factors such as high pressure, low visibility, and rapidly changing weather conditions. Coordinating complex operations with multidisciplinary teams, both onshore and offshore, can also present logistical and communication challenges. Additionally, strict compliance with safety and environmental regulations requires constant vigilance and up-to-date technical knowledge. Successfully managing these challenges is key to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient subsea operations.

The role will also monitor subsea system performance, ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, including SGIP, SGSS and SGSO, and interface with offshore teams, contractors and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Ensure subsea inspection, maintenance and intervention activities are planned and executed in support of ongoing production, with particular focus on system integrity, reliability and uptime
Plan and coordinate ROV campaigns, including routine inspections, anomaly verification and light intervention scopes, ensuring safe, efficient execution and alignment with operational priorities
Monitor subsea system performance and integrity, identify degradation or anomalies, and develop corrective actions and intervention strategies to maintain production and prevent failures
Review and assess subsea equipment (mechanical, hydraulic and intervention systems) based on operational feedback, identifying weaknesses and implementing lessons learned to improve reliability and field performance
Assess equipment in storage for suitability for redeployment, define refurbishment or repair scopes and ensure readiness of critical spares and intervention assets to support field operations
Support and monitor FPSO / topside integrity at subsea interfaces (corrosion coupons, vent valves, umbilical tubing, etc.), ensuring early identification of integrity threats and maintaining production continuity
Review existing technical documentation (procedures, deviations, risk assessments, inspection reports) to identify gaps or inconsistencies, and develop updated procedures, scopes of work and risk mitigations to ensure safe continuation of operations
Contribute to and maintain compliance with company governance and regulatory frameworks, including SGIP, SGSS and SGSO, ensuring inspection records, integrity data and operational reporting are accurate and up to date
Monitor contractor performance during ROV and subsea operations, ensuring technical delivery, operational efficiency and full HSE compliance
