Job description

Huntington University has an opening for a tenure track faculty position, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education. Primary responsibilities include leading and recruiting for Huntington University's agricultural teacher education program. This position reports to the Director of Haupert Institute for Agricultural Studies and works in close collaboration with the Director of Teacher Education and the Managing Director of the Haupert Institute for recruiting activities and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a strong personal Christian commitment and faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others
  • Must be committed to the mission of Huntington University as a comprehensive Christian College dedicated to educating men and women to impact our world for Christ
  • Demonstrated understanding of Christian higher education and commitment to Christian faith integration in teaching and mentorship
  • Master's degree in Education or Ag Education; or a B.S. with considerable experience in the same; must hold a current teaching licensure for teaching agriculture at the secondary education level
  • Experience teaching agriculture at the high school or middle school level
  • Demonstrated success with engagement in Ag Education and the broader agricultural community
  • Past history of service in FFA or 4-H; experience in agriculture judging events or team management preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with others in a variety of settings
  • Current membership and/or willingness to join professional organizations such as the Indiana Association for Agricultural Educators (IAAE), the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE), or the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA)
  • Candidates will be given preferential consideration if they have experience and/or credentials in CTE core pathway topics, including but not limited to: animal, plant, or agribusiness systems, ag leadership and communications, environmental and natural resources, food products and processing, or power and structure systems (ie: ag mechanics, welding, construction, etc.).
