Ameresco is seeking a dynamic Construction Program Manager to lead federal renewable energy projects in the upper Mid-Western U.S., priority will be given to candidates based in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, or Michigan. Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversite and leadership for administrative and technical management of construction projects delivering energy savings for government customers.

  • Partner with Engineering and Construction Team in project design and development including scope, subcontractor selection, cost estimation, installation, project scheduling, commissioning, start up, operations and maintenance.

  • Assure that for all assigned projects, our engineering, pre-construction and construction teams coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to assure competitive cost, best schedule and delivery for all project-related equipment, supply installations, and construction services.

  • Assure that specific internal Project Management teams adequately manage vendors and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality control and project delivery on time and within budget, while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

  • Provide ongoing project status updates to senior management throughout development and construction.

  • Evaluate technologies and equipment; recommend most suitable for each application.

  • Lead project implementation of site safety and health program, quality control program, operations and maintenance manuals, and training activities.

  • Provide project reports, documentation, technical assistance, support, and collaboration. Support business unit financial reporting initiatives.

  • Manage project teams and resources, including expenditures and job cost accounting processes for accuracy, documentation, approvals, payment reporting, and tracking.

  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.

  • Foster positive and effective business relationships at all levels and project phases.

  • Support internal business development initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years in construction management with at least (5) years working on federal projects that include industrial power, electrical/solar, mechanical, or engineering construction project management experience focusing on complex facility infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, upgrades, building controls and automation, and energy services.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with several of the following energy efficiency disciplines - direct digital energy controls systems, variable frequency drives, high efficiency motors, central plant chiller and boiler installations, lighting retrofits, renewable energy technology, warranty and service requirements is preferred.

  • Proven experience with OSHA safety standards, mechanical and electrical systems development, engineering, and project management regulations, practices, and codes.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple staff, multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.

  • Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project.

  • Ability to review confidential US Security Information.

  • Valid Drivers' License in good standing, issued by resident state.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $121,000 - $176,000 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
