This opportunity supports a major power generation construction project and offers broad responsibility across subcontract management, contract administration, commercial management, change management, and risk mitigation. The role will work closely with project management, construction leadership, procurement, project controls, and subcontractors to help drive safe, high-quality, schedule-focused, and cost-conscious project execution. This position is well suited to candidates with strong industrial construction and large capital project experience.

Responsibilities:

Subcontract Management and Administration

• Lead the administration and management of multiple subcontract agreements supporting project execution.
• Oversee subcontractor compliance with contract requirements, project procedures, and performance expectations.
• Partner with construction managers, project managers, procurement teams, and field leadership to manage subcontract scopes and deliverables.
• Participate in subcontract formation activities, scope reviews, commercial evaluations, and contract negotiations.
• Interpret contract terms and conditions and provide guidance to project stakeholders regarding contractual obligations and risk.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, schedule adherence, and commercial compliance.

Commercial Management and Risk Mitigation

• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate subcontract related commercial risks.
• Support development and execution of project subcontracting strategies.
• Evaluate subcontractor claims, entitlement issues, and contractual disputes.
• Develop recommendations and mitigation plans to protect project interests.
• Maintain awareness of market conditions, labor environments, and subcontractor performance trends.

Change Management and Cost Control

• Manage subcontract change order processes from initiation through negotiation, approval, and execution.
• Evaluate commercial impacts associated with scope changes, schedule impacts, delays, and disruptions.
• Review subcontractor pricing submissions and provide commercial recommendations.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and project cost control efforts.
• Collaborate with project controls teams to monitor subcontract commitments and expenditures.

Project Controls and Reporting

• Maintain subcontract records, correspondence, change logs, and commercial documentation.
• Generate reports related to subcontract status, commercial exposure, pending changes, and project risks.
• Support project audits and contract compliance reviews.
• Ensure accurate documentation of subcontract performance and project communications.

Leadership and Collaboration

• Serve as the primary commercial interface between subcontractors and project leadership.
• Facilitate subcontractor meetings, commercial reviews, and performance discussions.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to project team members regarding subcontract administration practices.
• Collaborate with estimating and business development teams during project pursuits and execution planning activities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in subcontract management, contract administration, procurement, commercial management, or project controls within industrial construction environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large capital construction projects.
• Experience managing subcontractor claims, change orders, and dispute resolution activities.

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of subcontract formation, contract administration, commercial negotiations, and change management processes.
• Ability to review and interpret complex commercial agreements and contractual language.
• Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and project execution principles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Capability to maintain subcontract records, change logs, correspondence, commercial documentation, and reporting related to subcontract status, commercial exposure, pending changes, and project risks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting power generation, energy, oil and gas, petrochemical, LNG, mining, or heavy industrial construction projects.
• Previous experience working for EPC contractors, construction management firms, or self-perform industrial contractors.
• Familiarity with lump sum, reimbursable, unit rate, and time and material contract structures.
• Experience supporting projects exceeding $500 million in total installed cost.
• Working knowledge of project controls, scheduling, estimating, and procurement processes.
• Experience with contract management and ERP systems.
