As a Carpentry Mechanic on the StuyTown team, you’ll trouble shoot and make improvements to the place our residents call home.

What you will do:
  • Repair and replace all windows and glass.
  • Construction work on walls, metal and or wood.
  • Install and repair shelving fabrication.
  • Wood flooring removal, repair and installation.
  • Repair/replace linoleum floors and counter tops.
  • Kitchen, laundry room and bathroom cabinetry repair and / or replacement.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by your Supervisor.
  • Be an ambassador of the property by answering resident questions and be generally helpful while always representing our cultural responsibilities.

What you should have:
  • 3-5+ years of trade experience in similar work required.
  • Trade school graduation or equivalent education is a plus.
  • Some computer skills necessary to manage the work order system.
  • Able to multi-task under high pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Weekends or overtime required on occasion.
  • A strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others
  • A belief that doing the right thing is the only option, no matter how difficult it might be
  • A willingness to respond to emergency situations no matter the time of day
  • A valid Driver's License must be enrolled in the New York State License Event Notification Service (LENS) program.
  • Ability to use tablet-based work order program to complete assigned work orders
  • Basic – Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Outlook
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to multi-task under high pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Overtime is available and required in emergency situations
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).
