Job description

Summary

The Studio Manager role is primarily focused on managing the sales and operations of the studio on a daily basis. This role will lead and influence a high-performance culture where customer satisfaction and safety are at the core, while strategically implementing initiatives to drive revenue growth. This position requires the candidate to have a sound understanding of sales and operational excellence and demonstrate adherence to brand standards. This leader must also possess a high-caliber approach to coaching and staff development. This position reports directly to the Franchise Owner / Regional Manager.


Primary Objectives & Responsibilities

Membership Sales & Retention:

  • Deliver on Key Performance Indicators including membership sales conversion, member retention (measured as monthly churn), month-over-month recurring membership growth, and gross revenue targets.

Studio Operations:

  • Comply and adhere to all brand standards, company policies, and procedures.
  • Fluent in all brand systems and applications that support the studio and membership program.
  • Create and manage the weekly staffing schedule while monitoring payroll expenses.

Staff Development & Management:

  • Provide in-studio leadership, coaching staff on sales techniques, customer service, and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Conduct performance reviews of the entire staff team twice yearly and continuously monitor their engagement as this will impact studio success.
  • Hire and onboard new staff members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all job duties of the Assistant Studio Manager and Coaching staff and support their development.

Additional Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring that the facility is clean, maintained, operationally sound, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining the full function of all exercise equipment and accessories, following equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Able to lead the fitness floor, guiding members through workouts in a safe and effective manner.
  • Support community events that drive member appreciation and new leads into the studio.
  • Ensure all systems and processes are followed, including but not limited to member check-in, waiver signature for participation, and adjustments to membership options (freezes, cancellations, upgrades/downgrades, etc.).
  • Facilitate studio-specific marketing promotions, audit CRM campaigns, and manage studio-specific messaging.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Customer Service team to effectively and efficiently resolve issues.
  • Maintain a high-energy studio culture amongst members and staff.

Qualifications
  • Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • Management experience in the health & fitness industry is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and demonstrate a strong work ethic with integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM systems.
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months).
  • Fitness certification from a nationally accredited organization (or willingness to obtain within 3 months), or a B.A. in Exercise Science or a related field.
    • Personal training, group fitness, or small group fitness certifications accepted.

Job Type
  • Full-time, salaried position, with the ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekend hours to meet the needs of the studio's operating hours.
  • Minimum of 40 hours per week and may exceed to meet the needs of the studio.
    • Minimum 35 hours per week in-studio during operational hours.
    • Additional hours will be required to support community events, grassroots activity, and studio admin tasks, to ensure the studio operations are running smoothly and in accordance with brand standards.
