Job Summary
The part-time temporary Academic Advisor will provide Express academic advising to support student traffic, along with making necessary referrals to new and current students regarding over all academic programs and coordinating with full-time Academic Advisors.
Essential Functions
Advise students in academic and career planning, including program and course information, scheduling, registration, transfer requirements, and articulation agreements.
Inform and advise prospective and current students regarding education planning, college services, and community resources at the Ames Hunziker Center while also meeting with assigned students from a defined caseload.
Work closely with DMACC's alert system by responding to requests for support submitted by faculty and students.
Coordinate with aligned Student Affairs peers along with faculty and leadership from Academic Affairs and may include limited travel to other campus locations.
This position will include a primary student caseload of online students.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge of current college educational and student services procedures and practices.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and deliver classroom presentations.
Knowledge of current software applications.
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in educational administration, student personnel, counseling, or related field.
Knowledge of DMACC educational and student services procedures and practices.
Experience within higher education.
Work Schedule
Daytime hours, will vary between 7:30am to 4:30pm.
