Job description

Educational Assistant - Special Education
Qualifications:
  1. 18 years of age
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Meets "Highly Qualified" paraprofessional standards.
  4. Satisfactory background check.
  5. Pass drug screening.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the educational and social-emotional development of students under the guidance of the classroom teacher/case manager.
  • Carry out instructional plans as prepared by the supervising teacher.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students.
  • Provide support and assistance for students inside and outside the classroom to facilitate learning and participation.
  • Assist classroom teacher with data collection.
  • Support students with behavioral and/or emotional needs.
  • Assist classroom teacher in preparing work for students.
  • Assist with providing modifications and accommodations as appropriate.
  • Assist students with self-help skills.
  • Assist Students with mobility needs.
  • Physically assist with lifting and positioning of students with physical needs.
  • Maintain student confidentiality.
  • Work cooperatively as a member of the educational team.
