Job description

Are you a college student in the Central Florida area interested in a semiannual data analytics program? Would you like to gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to machine learning and business intelligence? Do you want to work on challenging projects and learn more about the Publix organization? Do you want to network with professionals to develop skills beyond what you can learn in a classroom? If yes, then this internship at Publix may be the perfect fit for you. The Student Data Analyst program is a semiannual program based in our Lakeland corporate headquarters. Our goal is to provide the Student Data Analyst as much exposure to the day-to-day work of a full-time Data Analyst as possible, so the student works directly with the Publix Supply Chain Data Analytics team to assist with Supply Chain Forecasting, Pharmacy, Inventory Shrinkage, Risk Management, and Activity Based Costing projects.
Responsibilities include:
  • Developing and assisting with the development of new analyses, metrics and reports to provide insightful recommendations to supply chain analytics team members and business area leadership
  • Developing algorithms and analytical models which transform a process into a data model
  • Coordinating with Data Scientists to proactively seek learning and training opportunities to enhance data modeling, statistical analysis and other analytical techniques
  • Working with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to research and apply statistical modeling algorithms that can be utilized to improve forecast accuracy
