Job description

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking to hire a Student Assistant who will work under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer and the direction of a lead worker, in a learning capacity, to assist with the development of transportation projects in San Diego County. The Student Assistant will prepare exhibits, data summaries, draft reports, draft plan sheets, and cost estimates. The Student Assistant will query traffic data, perform quantity calculations, and review documents based on engineering standards.

The Student Assistant will use Microsoft Office, Computer-Aided Design software, and web-based applications. The expected objective is for the incumbent to acquire knowledge and gain valuable experience.
