Job Summary:
Responsible for providing clerical support assistance within the department. Provides general customer service activities.Varies

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes and assists persons who come into the department.

  • Types and edits forms, reports, memos, and correspondences.

  • Schedules appointments and meetings.

  • Receives, stamps in, and distributes incoming correspondence and deliveries, handles outgoing mail, distributes in-house memos and supplies. Processes and stamps outgoing mail.

  • Sets up and organizes files and manuals; counts and alphabetizes records; keeps files up to-date; distributes, as needed.

  • Makes photocopies and scans documents into the system.

  • Receives, makes or transfers telephone calls.

  • Screens calls for supervisor and responds to routine questions.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED

Skilled in:

  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

  • Delivering a high level of customer service

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers

  • Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Regular physical attendance required

  • Must be a current Palm Beach State College student enrolled at least half time, 6 credits or equivalent, for the term which they are employed

  • Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher

  • Must meet the Standards of Academic Progress (SAP)

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • Reach and grasp objects

  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Stand for extended periods of time

  • Use of video display terminal

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

  • Communicate information orally and in writing

  • Receive and understand information through oral and written communication

  • Proofread and check documents for accuracy

  • Work a fluctuating work schedule
