ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Office of Admissions is dedicated to recruiting, welcoming, and supporting prospective students and their families throughout the college enrollment process. The office serves as the first point of contact for many visitors, providing information about academic programs, campus life, student resources, and the admissions process. Admissions Tour Guides help create a welcoming environment that supports prospective students and their families in making informed decisions about attending Shawnee State University while contributing to the institution's enrollment and outreach efforts.
POSITION SUMMARY, ROUTINE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Admissions Tour Guide serves as a student ambassador for the university by creating a welcoming and informative experience for prospective students, families, and campus visitors. Responsibilities include preparing for daily campus visits, greeting guests, leading engaging and informative campus tours for prospective students, their families, and campus partners, and sharing personal experiences about student life and the university community. Tour Guides also provide excellent customer service by answering incoming phone calls, responding to visitor inquiries, and assisting with front office operations.
• Must be comfortable speaking confidently to individuals and groups of varying sizes while representing the university in a professional and positive manner.
• Must maintain confidentiality of prospective student information and adhere to university policies regarding privacy and professional conduct.
• Position requires frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and navigating campus for extended periods in a variety of weather conditions.
• Tour Guides are expected to serve as positive ambassadors for the university by providing accurate information, exceptional customer service, and an inclusive, welcoming experience for all campus visitors.
• Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and special admissions events is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Registered full-time SSU student
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
- Follow SSU dress code policy
