Summary of Job Duties:
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking to hire tutors in the TRIO/Student Support Services Center. The ideal candidates would be responsible for tutoring students in various course materials. Tutor applicants who are considered for hire should have earned an A or B in a particular course and/or have adequate-to-extensive experience in the subject area. The previous tutoring, mentoring, and/or teaching experience are also considered. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to build rapport with others are important qualifications for applicants to possess. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • A current undergraduate student OR have earned a bachelor's or graduate-level degree;
  • Extensive experience in a field of study or a professional;
  • A or B grade in a particular course;
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:
  • Previous tutoring, mentoring, and/or teaching experience;
  • Former or current SSS participant;
  • Previous experience with student services;
  • Previous office/customer service experience.

Job Duties:
  • Tutoring and mentoring students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong oral, listening, and written communication skills;
  • Ability to utilize applicable technology;
  • Experience working in a team environment with a collective focus;
  • Evidence of ability to work independently to achieve a goal;
  • High level of confidentiality regarding students.
