Job description

Department Overview
The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (SPH) is aligned with the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and our School is committed to becoming an antiracist SPH. We are working to center social justice in our internal and external work as a school and are committed to addressing structural and institutional racism, and to holding ourselves accountable to this work.
Function/Duties of Position
  • Provide broad support to students visiting the Student Success Center (SSC), including directing them to resources, answering general questions, and assisting with the checkout of SSC equipment.
  • Provide support in the oversight of the Student Success Center (SSC) including: restocking warm beverage station and Wellness Wall, hanging & removing flyers, light cleaning, etc.
  • Support staffing for the 6th floor front desk. Duties include: greeting guests, directing phone calls, emails, and other inquiries from students, staff, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with School of Public Health events including, but not limited to: SSC events and workshops, OHSU Commencement and Hooding Ceremony, PSU Commencement, Fall Welcome (orientation) for students, and other SPH celebrations, training sessions, and/or meetings.
  • Provide support, as needed, for school-wide reporting, projects and other administrative needs.

Required Qualifications
  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in
    • Undergraduate Program (minimum 6 credit hours)
    • Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours)
  • Student enrolled in a SPH program
  • Strong written & verbal comminication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite and Google Suite required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Student enrolled in a SPH program
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience working in an office setting
  • Experience in customer service

Additional Details
  • Location will be in-person, at the Vanport Building in downtown Portland.
  • Position is based at a sit/stand reception desk with computer and phones, with expected interruptions.
  • Requires both autonomous and teamwork.
  • Varied pace of work, due to the unexpected flow of requests received
  • Professional presentation (business casual minimum) required.
  • 10-20 hrs. per week (M-F), SSC open 8am-9pm
