Job description

To serve on the Data Analytics help desk. Provide support to students, staff and faculty with problems and challenges that require data analytical approaches, including code, analysis, data acquisition and visualization.

Hours/Shifts Available: Negotiable
Rate of Pay: $9.70/hr
Number of Positions available: 2
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Staff Data Analytics Help Desk (nominally, S, T, & Th, 4:30 - 6:30pm)
  • Support drop-in clients
  • Record number of clients and type of help required
  • Explore datasets and tools to develop example DA scenarios to advertise data analytics applications

Qualifications:
  • Good working knowledge of Python, R, Stata or similar with a focus on data analytics packages and applications
  • Experience with personal or academic projects using data analytics approaches
  • Class-based experience (e.g. CSC233 Data Analytics, CSC321 Machine Learning, ENS215 Exploring Environmental Data, ECO134 Data Visualization, ECO364 Business Analytics, STA364 Big Data Analytics) or relevant personal experience
  • Good communication skills to "meet people where they are at"
  • Conscientious and reliable
