ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: The Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently seeking four undergraduate or graduate student assistants to support the Little Chef youth education program. The selected students will work under the supervision of Dr. Belal Hasan in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
This position focuses on working directly with children, mentoring them through hands-on food, nutrition, and simple cooking activities in a supervised learning environment.
Students will help guide participants through daily activities, model positive behavior, ensure safety, and assist with demonstrations under faculty supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Cal Poly Pomona
- Background in basic food science or a related field (e.g., Nutrition, Food Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Chemistry)
- Familiarity with data collection, statistics, or experimental analysis (coursework acceptable)
- Willingness to learn advanced food processing technologies such as extrusion
- Ability to work collaboratively in a research team environment
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to a minimum of 10 hours per week
PREFERRED:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Background in basic food science or a related field (e.g., Nutrition, Food Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Chemistry)
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
