Position Specific Summary
The Innovations in Community Health Advocacy, Research, and Messaging (I-CHARM) Lab is seeking a graduate-level Student Research Assistant to support the implementation of multiple community-engaged research projects.
Led by Dr. Daisy Le (PhD, MPH, MA) at The George Washington University, the I-CHARM Lab focuses on improving health behaviors and outcomes among underserved and vulnerable populations. The lab partners with government agencies, healthcare organizations, and community-based organizations throughout the Washington-BaltimoreMetropolitan Area (WBMA) to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative interventions addressing cancer prevention, chronic disease, health communication, and health equity.
This position will primarily support an NIH-funded K01 project, My Self-Sampling for HPV Awareness, Results, and Empowerment (MySHARE+), which is conducting formative research and pilot testing multilevel provider- and patient-focused intervention components. MySHARE+ leverages technology to increase cervical cancer screening among under- and never-screened women living with HIV, a population that experiences significant health disparities.
The graduate-level Student Research Assistant will work closely with a small multidisciplinary research team and gain hands-on experience in community-engaged and implementation research. Responsibilities include actively recruiting and enrolling participants through community outreach, clinic-based recruitment, and engagement events; communicating with potential participants; scheduling study visits; conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection; managing, cleaning, and analyzing research data; and assisting with literature reviews, conference presentations, manuscript preparation, and technical reports.Compensation for this hourly student position will be $18.65/hour for up to 5 hours/week. This position will begin in August 2026.

Standard Position Description
The student will perform administrative and research tasks with some discretion under direction of faculty member or research coordinator. Tasks may include: assisting with experiments, coding, data entry, data cleaning, and data analysis, preparing research and drafts for articles, reports, and/or presentations. Students may also complete literature reviews, draft summaries, and create graphs and figures. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental/faculty needs.

Some applicable educational, technical, or professional experience required, some training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong attention to detail. MPH/MS+ (or related) student preferred. 2+ years of public health/community research. Demonstrated success recruiting and retaining women living with HIV (WLH) and other underserved populations. CBPR. REDCap, Excel, SPSS, R/SAS/Stata. IRB/grants. Strong communication.

Special Instructions Summary

• Strong attention to detail.
• Enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral-level degree in Public Health or related discipline (e.g., psychology, sociology, statistics, epidemiology).
• 2+ years of working experience in academic, public health, clinical, and/orcommunity research settings.
• Demonstrated understanding of CBPR principles and experience working with diverse and underserved populations.
• Evidence of research potential (peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, applied research experience).

• Familiarity with public health datasets (e.g., HINTS, BRFSS, PATH).
• Familiarity with public data repositories (e.g., GitHub) and best practices for reproducible research.
• Experience developing social media strategies and community-focused communications.
