Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough intake assessments and screenings, employing evidence-based practices to identify and address the mental health needs of students.
• Provide short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention services for a wide range of student concerns, employing a variety of therapeutic techniques tailored to each individual.
• Facilitate engaging therapy groups and workshops that address key issues such as stress management, anxiety, and personal development, promoting skills that enable students to thrive.
• Collaborate with academic advisors, residential staff, and student organizations to establish a support network that helps students navigate academic challenges and emotional distress.
• Participate in outreach initiatives, including mental health awareness campaigns and wellness events, to foster a supportive campus culture and reduce stigma.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential records of client sessions, strictly adhering to ethical standards and legal guidelines to ensure compliance and integrity.

In this role, you will primarily serve college students who are navigating the complexities of academic life while managing personal and emotional challenges. Your expertise will directly contribute to their success by addressing mental health barriers that may impact their academic performance and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will be attuned to the unique struggles of this demographic, which may include stress, anxiety, relationship issues, and more.

Qualifications

• An active, unrestricted license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field.
• A comprehensive understanding of college student mental health issues and the capacity to engage effectively with this population.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary to build rapport with students and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A solid foundation in evidence-based therapeutic methods and brief therapy models, particularly those effective in a university counseling center.
• The ability to manage a diverse caseload in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a counseling or therapeutic setting within higher education, or with a focus on adolescent and young adult populations.
• Proficiency in telehealth practices and technologies, ensuring that remote counseling is delivered effectively and empathetically.
• Familiarity with community resources and referral networks available to students seeking additional support.
